Boys Schools Cricket Week defending champions Busoga College Mwiri made it into the Super 8 after maintaining their 100% record in Group A. Two wins against KC Butiki and Ntare School on Tuesday made it four out of four for the record winners.

Mwiri remain in pursuit of a record 21st title, and in the business end of the tournament they will need to raise their level against some tough opponents.

Ntare School is second in Group A but not yet out of sight from the chasing pack as Gulu High School and Kiira College Butiki have a chance to catch them in the final group games.

In Group B, St John’s Kauga booked a Super 8 place as well despite going down to second-placed Masaka SSS. Masaka SSS is the only unbeaten side in the group, and they are certain to go through as group leaders.

Jinja SSS and debutants Soroti SSS have sorted out Group C; hosts Nyakasura School failed to make the grade, which will disappoint the home fans. Soroti SSS, on their first outing, have scaled heights beyond their expectation and they will be a dark horse in the Super 8.

Shree Sahajanand is unbeaten in Group D, and their 100% record means they progress to the Super 8. The Central region champions are chasing their first Cricket Week crown, and they are confident they can do better than a semifinal place from last year. Debutants Lango College should go through with them to the Super 8.

The final group games will be played on Wednesday morning with the men separated from the boys.

The Super 8 will have two groups of four teams, with the top 2 sides in each group qualifying for the semifinals. The tournament concludes on Saturday.
