Mauritania Discusses Strengthening Support for the Private Sector and Financial Markets with Islamic Financial Institutions

His Excellency the Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, Mr. Abdullah Ould Suleiman Ould Cheikh Sidiya, accompanied by the Governor of the Central Bank of Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Al-Amin Ould Al-Dhahabi, hold a round of talks yesterday, Wednesday, in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku with the Chief Executive Officer of the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC), Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD), Dr. Khalid Khalaf Allah.

The talks, which took place on the sidelines of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group, dealt with mechanisms for strengthening cooperation between Mauritania and these two international institutions, enhancing their role in supporting and developing the national private sector, as well as upgrading local financial markets and developing mechanisms to secure financing for development projects.
