*A close friend of Michael Jackson has shared a detailed account alleging that the pop icon once privately admitted to being sexually abused during his childhood. The recollections come from Geoffrey Mark, who says the conversations occurred years ago during personal interactions, New York Post reports.
Mark recalls Jackson describing being “inappropriately touched by an adult” while working as a child performer. According to him, the singer did not initially recognize the experience as abuse, instead interpreting it through a distorted sense of normal childhood behavior shaped by his upbringing.
“He didn’t use those terms, because he didn’t think of it as abuse or sex,” Mark said. “It was playtime.” Mark believes this reflects how deeply the experience had been internalized, arguing that Jackson came to see such behavior as routine rather than harmful.

Mark says the topic surfaced during a series of private dinners and social evenings in Los Angeles held at the home of dermatologist Dr. Arnold Klein in the late 1990s and early 2000s. During one of those conversations, Mark says he revealed his own history of abuse, which prompted a surprising reaction from Jackson. He recalls the singer appearing confused that he would view such experiences as traumatic, reportedly responding with an understanding that differed sharply from Mark’s perspective.
“Michael shared, very broadly, news that there was intergenerational touching and beyond,” Mark explained. “It’s not like Michael said, ‘Oh, I was abused.’ That would never have crossed his mind… Because he had been conditioned that this was normal and natural. . . . Other then it did happen a lot, it was a part of his growing up and was normal.”
The discussion is resurfacing alongside renewed public attention on Jackson’s life story following the release of the biopic “Michael,” which focuses on his rise to global fame but does not address these claims. The King of Pop faced numerous child molestation allegations involving throughout his life. He denied all accusations and was acquitted in the 2005 criminal trial of People v. Jackson. He also previously settled a civil case involving Jordie Chandler.
Mark describes the singer as someone shaped by early trauma and struggling with identity, fame, and trust. He also suggests Jackson may have used alcohol and drugs as coping mechanisms for unresolved emotional pain.
“Everything was about the career and the money – because that’s what his father wanted,” Mark said. “Michael was unsure who he was and whether anyone liked him for being Michael. He didn’t know who to trust. Including himself, because he wasn’t sure who he was.”
Mark stops short of labeling MJ a child sex predator “I can only react to what I saw and heard. I was not in the room when Michael was with the children,” he said.
