By Zoila Palma: On June 16, 2026, the Ministry of Human Development, Family Support and Gender Affairs participated in the Public Service Information Day held at the Belmopan Civic Center.
The 3 departments representing the Ministry included the Family Support and Gender Affairs Department, the Department of Human Services, and the Community Rehabilitation Department. Each showcased the important services and programs they provide to individuals, families, and communities across Belize.
“Throughout the day, our knowledgeable, energetic, and hardworking staff engaged with members of the public, answered questions, shared valuable information, and hosted fun interactive games designed to increase awareness about the work of each department. Visitors also received promotional items and had the opportunity to learn more about the resources and support available through the Ministry,” the Ministry said.
A highlight included the Blue Teddy Bear Campaign, a national initiative that seeks to break the silence surrounding child abuse and sexual violence while encouraging communities to play an active role in protecting children.
The Ministry thanked the Office of the Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children and the National Committee for Families and Children (NCFC) for their continued partnership and support of the Blue Teddy Bear Campaign.
“Their generous contribution of teddy bears helped create a welcoming and engaging experience for visitors while reinforcing the campaign’s important message of child protection and advocacy,” the Ministry added.
