Moses Abayateye rallies NPP grassroots for unity ahead of 2028 elections

An aspirant for the Sege Constituency Chairmanship position of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Moses N. Abayateye, has called for unity among the grassroots of the party ahead of the upcoming national executive elections.

Mr Abayateye, who describes himself as “The Unifier” and “The Bulldozer,” said the party’s chances of reclaiming political power in the 2028 general election would largely depend on its ability to remain united and focused.

According to him, the party must come together as a formidable force with a common purpose in order to wrest power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He further urged delegates to elect leaders with proven track records, commitment and experience to reposition the party for victory.

“I have always been a grassroots person and a strong voice for the youth, having served from Youth Organiser to Organiser, and now aspiring to become Constituency Chairman,” he stated.

Mr Abayateye noted that he played a significant role in increasing the popularity of the NPP in the constituency during the 2016 and 2020 elections, despite the area traditionally being dominated by the NDC.

“That contribution helped the NPP secure victory and we need to return to the grassroots and intensify the same efforts ahead of the next elections,” he added.

As part of measures to address disunity among the youth, he pledged to organise a youth carnival every three months, support young entrepreneurs with their businesses and assist farmers in the constituency with fertilisers to improve agricultural production.

He also emphasised that his long-standing relationship and continuous interaction with constituents had given him a deeper understanding of their challenges and developmental needs.

According to him, poor road networks, water shortages and unemployment remain major concerns confronting residents within the constituency.

“It is the responsibility of every government to support farmers with fertilisers, seedlings and good road infrastructure, but little appears to have been done so far. I will prioritise the welfare and interests of farmers,” he stressed.

Mr Abayateye further promised to support the youth to attain higher levels of education while creating opportunities for others to join the security services.

“Be assured that the ‘Bulldozer’ is coming to reunite the party for victory in the 2028 elections,” he declared.

The opposition NPP is expected to hold its national executive elections from September 18 to 20, 2026, following nominations, vetting and appeals processes, scheduled for August.
