New Corozal Wellness & Community Health Resource Center inaugurated

By Zoila Palma:  A new hub dedicated to strengthening community health services was officially launched in Corozal, bringing together the Government of Belize, UNICEF Belize, the Ministry of Health and Wellness, HECOPAB and the Government of the Republic of Korea. 

The Corozal Wellness & Community Health Resource Center is expected to serve as a central space for health knowledge, training and community engagement.

The center will provide community health workers, volunteers, youth leaders and health professionals with access to resources and opportunities to build their skills. The initiative aims to strengthen community-based health services and help ensure that essential information and support reach families and communities that need them most.

During the launch, UNICEF Belize Representative Sajid Ali highlighted the critical role communities play in building a stronger health system. The initiative recognizes that health workers, volunteers and community leaders all have an important part to play in ensuring that health services effectively reach people, particularly those who may otherwise face barriers to accessing care and information.

UNICEF Belize expressed appreciation to the Government of the Republic of Korea and all partners who contributed to the initiative, emphasizing the importance of making reliable health information accessible to everyone.

The new resource center is expected to support continued collaboration and capacity-building as Belize works to strengthen community-based healthcare.
