NFL Poser Daejon Love Was So Committed To The Bit, He Was Wearing 49ers Gear During His Arrest

Alleged NFL scammer Daejon Love was living out his San Francisco 49ers dreams to the very end.

TMZ got hold of footage of the fake wide receiver getting arrested outside of Boise Airport on August 24, and he was still wearing team gear.

Video shows him being pulled over in a white Corvette, and once he exits the driver’s seat, he’s wearing a red 49ers cap and a matching shirt.

The 35-year-old is being accused of posing as a 49ers player for years to befriend women and coerce them into investing money with him. He’s reportedly responsible for conning at least $1.3 million out of 26 victims, leading to him being charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud.

In the passenger seat of the sports car was his accomplice, 18-year-old Jamie Chan, who posed as his financial adviser. The FBI learned that Chan had just landed in Idaho and Love was there to pick him up.

Together, they created fictitious investment documents that Chan showed victims to build trust and convince them that any money they invested would yield astronomical returns.

The Justice Department even obtained screenshots of fake bank accounts Love claimed to have, showing balances totaling more than $20 million.

One way he gained their trust was by faking a lavish lifestyle online, including flaunting flashy cars, carrying his helmet everywhere, and constantly wearing team gear.

Social media has been making jokes about Love’s whole scheme for weeks, and it’s even made its way to real NFL players, including Fred Warner, who technically would have been his teammate.

The linebacker recently appeared on The Pivot Podcast, where they jokingly asked him what kind of teammate he was.

Committed to the bit, Warner started his response with “Hey, great teammate. He’s like my best friend.”

But then he addressed the report that he’d interacted with Love on Instagram before, as he remembers thinking, “Nah, I see him, he post something about me looking at his [Instagram] Story, I’m like, ‘What the heck, why he pick me to photoshop the tag on there?’ I’m like, ‘Man, come on now.'”
