Senegal and Wave Explore Collaboration to Accelerate Digital Public Services

Senegal is exploring deeper collaboration with fintech company Wave Senegal  as the government seeks to accelerate the digitalisation of public services and strengthen the country’s digital economy.

The discussions took place on September 10, 2026, during a visit to Wave Senegal by Samba Diouf as part of meetings with stakeholders across Senegal’s digital ecosystem.

The meeting focused on Wave Senegal’s growth ambitions and its broader expansion across Africa, as well as opportunities for the company to work with the government on digital public services.

Potential areas of collaboration include the digitalisation of services in the transport, health and Treasury sectors, with the discussions aimed at identifying ways fintech and digital platforms can support public-sector transformation.

The meeting also examined challenges surrounding data management, regulatory compliance and the evolution of Senegal’s Telecommunications Code. Further workshops are expected to examine these issues in greater detail and identify practical solutions to constraints affecting the country’s digital transformation.

The engagement highlights Senegal’s efforts to strengthen cooperation between the government and private-sector technology players as it advances the digitalisation of public services and develops its wider digital economy.
