After New York, Twista will hit Boston, Philadelphia, St. Louis and more after selling out four performances in Chicago and Atlanta.

Twista opened the run May 9 with two packed concerts at City Winery Chicago. The hometown setting put his speed, breath control and remarkable delivery on full display. With the Cabrini Kings providing live instrumentation, familiar records received a fresh jolt without losing the qualities that made them staples.

The Chicago performances included “Slow Jamz,” “Overnight Celebrity,” “Girl Tonite” and “Wetter,” along with other selections from his extensive body of work. Binta Kai, Slique Adams and Liz Toussaint also performed during the kickoff.

That hometown warmth soon gave way to another high-energy night down South.

Twista sold out two more shows June 12 at City Winery Atlanta, where the Cabrini Kings once again supported him onstage. Toussaint and Adams supplied additional vocals while DJ Tight handled the music throughout the evening.

The series trades the distance of a large arena for a room where every breath and syllable can land within a few feet of the audience. That format places new attention on Twista’s technical command while giving longtime listeners a chance to revisit his music through a full live band.

The rapper’s recorded legacy includes the platinum albums Adrenaline Rush and Kamikaze. The latter reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. His lengthy collaboration list includes Kanye West, Jamie Foxx, Mariah Carey, Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Lil Jon and classic Chicago group Do or Die.

Two additional St. Louis performances are scheduled for Sept. 20 at 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The announced itinerary concludes Sept. 21 with a 7:30 p.m. homecoming at City Winery Chicago.

Tickets and further details are available through City Winery.

The rooms may be smaller than the venues Twista has commanded across his career, but the setting makes his artistry feel larger, more intimate. Each high-powered verse now arrives with an incredible legacy of lyricism and rich history of dope music.
