The United States has announced the full implementation of a naval blockade targeting Iranian ports and coastal areas, marking a significant escalation in Gulf tensions despite a fragile ceasefire.
U.S. Central Command said the operation is now fully operational after its launch on April 13, as part of a large-scale military deployment aimed at monitoring and controlling maritime activity linked to Iran.
The blockade applies to vessels of all nationalities entering or leaving Iranian ports and covers key maritime zones along Iran’s southern coastline, including strategic access points in the Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
