Used Vehicles steer motor market as new registrations slow
Botswana’s roads may be getting busier, but the latest transport figures suggest the country’s appetite for putting new cars on them is cooling.
A total of 7,536 vehicles were registered for the first time in the second quarter of 2026, down 7.2 percent from 8,119 in the previous quarter. The decline continues a broader slowdown in vehicle registrations, with passenger cars – the country’s favourite four-wheeled purchase – accounting for 73 percent of new registrations.
