War With Iran Hits Trump’s Poll Numbers Hard

(AURN News) — A new national poll is raising red flags for Republicans heading into the midterm elections, and the numbers are brutal for President Donald Trump.

According to a New York Times/Siena College poll, 37% of voters approve of Trump’s job performance. That is his lowest approval rating of his second term so far, and much of the backlash is tied to the war with Iran.

Nearly two-thirds of voters, 64%, say Trump made the wrong decision by going to war with Iran. Even more striking, 73% of independents oppose the move, and voters are connecting the conflict to rising costs at home. Gas prices are reportedly climbing above $4.50 a gallon in some areas, while voters say food and household costs continue to soar.

The poll also found 64% disapprove of Trump’s handling of the economy, and nearly 70% disapprove of how he is dealing with the cost of living.

At the same time, Democrats still have their own image problem. Only 26% of voters say they are satisfied with the Democratic Party.
