Weak tropical wave crosses Belize with showers focused south

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A weak tropical wave is making its way over Belize, according to the National Meteorological Service.

Skies will be sunny with some cloudy spells today and partly cloudy tonight. A few showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue mostly over southern and some offshore areas this morning, then redevelop over the south tonight. Elsewhere, showers or thunderstorms will be isolated.

Inland temperatures will climb to 95 degrees Fahrenheit before dropping to 75 overnight. The coast reaches 89 with a low of 82, while the hills stay at 82 and fall to 68.

Marine conditions are choppy. Winds will blow from the east to northeast at 10 to 20 knots with waves of 3 to 5 feet.

Saturday brings cloudy skies with a few showers or thunderstorms mainly over southern and central areas, decreasing during the afternoon. Saturday night will see isolated showers or thunderstorms with slightly more over the south.

Tropical cyclone formation is not expected over the region during the next 48 hours.
