Art by India Espy-Jones. In an industry with an overwhelming amount of product launches daily, The Empties Edit helps you cut through the noise. To help you find your new beauty and wellness favorites, this series highlights the tried-and-true products our writers constantly empty out and re-up on.
In 2026, foundation options that complement the wide, nuanced range of deep skin tones are plentiful. This, of course, is largely due to Black beauty entrepreneurs like Eunice Johnson, Pat McGrath, and Rihanna, constantly evolving the cosmetics industry with complexion products formulated with melanin skin top of mind. More recently, model-turned-makeup artist Kim Baker was added to this growing list of trailblazers after relaunching Glamazon Beauty by Kim Baker in 2021 (The brand originally launched in 2015 before its rebrand).
I first tried Glamazon Beauty’s Second To None Foundation Stick, after prepping with the 2-In-1 Mystical Veil Face Primer & Daily Moisturizer, about five months ago. It has easily become one of my favorite products, and I say this as a self-admitted bougie beauty editor who lowkey takes pride in being unimpressed!
I know, I know. Foundation sticks are rather polarizing—you love them, or you don’t. I tend to lean towards the latter, but Second To None is my exception. I was immediately impressed by the shade match; I wear Bronze Sable, by the way. I kept looking in the mirror because I could barely see where the swatch ended, and my skin began. After a few more swatches, I blended using a damp beauty sponge. It melted into my skin without much effort, and I especially loved how it felt like I wasn’t wearing anything. The final results? Flawless! Not blotchy, streaky, or cakey—the buildable formula couldn’t be more perfect.
Ingredients like Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Castor Seed Oil, and Jojoba Seed Oil leave the skin looking dewy, hydrated, supple, and radiant. I have normal-combination skin, and I love a dewy effect because it helps achieve that skin-like look. After a full day with minimal powder touch-ups as needed, my foundation is always in place and radiant. If you have naturally oily skin and/or prefer a more matte finish, though, I’d suggest testing it at home to see how you like the finished look after some wear before hard-launching it in public.
A precise match, flawless skin-like finish, compact packaging that’s easy to transport—Kim Baker truly thought of everything you’d want in a foundation. I haven’t stopped using it since my first swipe, and if you’re wondering about the Second To None Concealer, too, the answer is yes… add it to cart!
