Why SC Villa are returning to Wankulukuku from Kadiba

SC Villa have returned to the Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku for the 2026/27 season, the club has confirmed.

This was revealed at the club’s Annual General Meeting held on Sunday July 12, 2026 at East High School in Kulambiro, the Jogoos’ base by CEO William Nkemba.

The record league champions hosted their matches at Fufa stadium, Kadiba last season but the club revealed it will be closed for refurbishment as it will be used as one of the training grounds for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2027.

Villa are back at Wankulukuku for a third stint and they won the 2023/24 league title while hosting their matches at the venue.

Wankulukuku is also one of the training grounds for the Afcon 2027 and has since been worked on and has floodlights installed.

Last season, Villa hosted all their matches under floodlights and it will be the same at Wankulukuku next season according to Nkemba.

Villa’s lack of a permanent home has seen them host matches at Masaka Recreation Grounds, Mityana Ssaza Ground, Mandela stadium, Namboole, Nakivubo stadium, Bombo Military Grounds among other venues.

The Jogoos were unbeaten at Kadiba last season and only dropped points in draws with Express, Entebbe UPPC, Lugazi and Vipers
