Windrush: the untold story of the children left behind – Brixton meeting on 18th May 2026

Do you have a story to tell? LAMPAG (Lambeth Pensioners Action Group) is having a special meeting next Monday, 18th May, to talk about the children left at home when the Windrush generation came to England.

If this was your experience, come and share it. If you’re just curious, come and find out more!

This might be the last untold story of the Windrush generation.

Many parents came here to make their future – but could not afford to bring their children right away.

What happened to these children? What was it like losing their parents, growing up perhaps with grandparents? What was it like later on, coming to a strange, cold England – to join parents they barely remembered, and siblings they had never met?

Guest speaker Shirley Blackwood will tell her own story. Then it’s open to everyone.

ALL WELCOME.
