BAFTA-Winner Malachi Kirby Returns for Explosive Second Season of A Thousand Blows …

Disney+ has officially confirmed the highly anticipated return of A Thousand Blows, the critically acclaimed historical drama from creator and executive producer Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders). The second season will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland and Hulu in the U.S. on January 9, 2026, with all six episodes available at launch.

Season two sees Malachi Kirby (BAFTA-winner, Small Axe) reprise his role as Hezekiah Moscow, joined once again by Erin Doherty (Emmy-winner, The Crown) as Mary Carr, and Stephen Graham (Line of Duty, Boiling Point) as Sugar Goodson.

Set in the brutal East End of London in the 1880s, the story picks up a year later: Hezekiah is a broken man, Sugar is lost in drink, and Mary Carr storms back into Wapping with her right hand, Alice Diamond, to rebuild her gang and retake her crown. But Mary’s bold new plan comes with higher risks and deeper consequences than ever before.

The returning ensemble cast includes Aliyah Odoffin, Morgan Hilaire, James Nelson-Joyce, Darci Shaw, Hannah Walters, Nadia Albina, and Daniel Mays, with newcomers Ned Dennehy and Catherine McCormack joining the fold.

Episodes 1–3 are directed by Katrin Gebbe, with Dionne Edwards directing episodes 4–6. Writers this season include Yasmin Joseph, Harlan Davies, Insook Chappell, and Ameir Brown. Executive producers include Stephen Graham and Hannah Walters for Matriarch Productions, alongside Damian Keogh, Kate Lewis, Tom Miller, and Professor David Olusoga.

With a powerful blend of historical grit, unforgettable characters, and edge-of-your-seat storytelling, A Thousand Blows promises to deliver another must-watch season.
