*The American Black Film Festival is marking three decades with a celebration worthy of the milestone. ABFF 2026, themed “Homecoming,” will take place May 27-31 in Miami Beach, and the festival has revealed its programming lineup, spotlighting a wide range of conversations, panels, screenings, and live events, Indie Wire reports.

Festival ambassador Regina King will be among the most prominent figures of the weekend. The Oscar-winning actress will take part in a special Legacy Talk honoring her career and her return to the festival stage.

Peacock’s “Strung,” directed by Malcolm D. Lee, will serve as the Opening Night film. Starring Chloe Bailey, Lynn Whitfield, Lucien Laviscount, Anna Diop, and Coco Jones, the project also gets its own panel the next day — “Peacock’s Strung: From Script to Screen,” presented by Comcast NBCU. Other screening highlights include “The Brittney Griner Story” from ESPN, “Meeting the Moment” featuring Olympian Noah Lyles, and “Basement People,” directed by Christine Swanson, paired with a post-screening Q&A.

The panel programming draws from across the entertainment landscape. Sessions include “Celebration of Black Television” presented by Netflix, “Storytellers Unleashed: The Creative Powerhouses Behind Your Favorite Amazon MGM Originals,” “The Final Game: Inside the Legacy of All American” from WBD, and “Kanan’s Evolution: An Inside Look at Season Five of ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan'” from Starz. Iyanla Vanzant will appear in a dedicated conversation moderated by CNN’s Abby Phillip, presented by OWN.

Comedians Zainab Johnson and Tisha Campbell are set to perform as part of the “Hey Ladies Comedy Experience,” while the Opening Night Party and the Legendary White Party round out the social calendar. Programming will be spread across several Miami Beach locations, with the New World Center, Miami Beach Convention Center, and O Cinema serving as primary venues.

“Reaching our 30th anniversary is a profound milestone, not just for the festival, but for the entire creative community we’ve championed over the last three decades,” said Nice Crowd President Nicole Friday. “Our ‘Homecoming’ theme this year is a celebration of that journey — welcoming back legends like our ambassador Regina King while introducing a new generation of powerhouses like Chloe Bailey and Noah Lyles.”
