During Autism Awareness Month, it’s important to highlight voices that are not only creating art—but reshaping narratives. Rising hip hop artist Jonathan Harris, known by his stage name Big Jon, is doing exactly that. With a commitment to authenticity, storytelling, and purpose, he is proving that passion and perseverance can break barriers in both music and representation.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Big Jon discovered his love for hip hop at just 12 years old. Inspired by legends like Tupac, The Notorious B.I.G., Eminem, and Lauryn Hill, he began writing his own music by the age of 16. What started as performing in front of classmates and his church choir quickly evolved into something much deeper—a calling rooted in expression, healing, and impact.
After earning his degree in Media Production from Towson University and spending years exploring a path in broadcasting, Big Jon made a powerful return to music in 2024—fully stepping into his purpose. His debut EP, “HERE I COME,”released in 2025, marked not just a reintroduction, but a statement. Every track reflects his dedication to lyrical depth, storytelling, and meaningful artistry.
But Big Jon’s journey is about more than music—it’s about resilience. He channels personal loss, including the passing of his mother in 2021 and his grandmother in 2025, into fuel for his ambition. Their memory lives through every lyric, every performance, and every step forward.
As an artist on the autism spectrum, Big Jon brings a unique lens to hip hop—one that challenges stereotypes and expands what representation looks like in the industry. His focus, creativity, and determination shine through in both his work ethic and vision.
“I’m a rapper who brings strong lyrical storytelling and working to deliver quality music back to Hip Hop. My goal is to tour across the country and team up with artists like Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Tate McRae, Megan Thee Stallion, Alicia Keys, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Imagine Dragons and many more to create huge hits for songs I have strong visions for.”
With consistent performances across Baltimore, growing media coverage, and new music on the way—including upcoming singles like “Cosmos” and “Reload”—Big Jon is steadily building momentum. His drive to elevate the quality of hip hop while staying true to his artistry sets him apart in a crowded space.
This Autism Awareness Month, Jonathan Harris stands as a reminder that talent has no limitations—and that different perspectives don’t just belong in the conversation, they elevate it.
Big Jon isn’t just making music—he’s making a statement. And he’s only getting started.
