BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – The police are investigating an incident at a quarry in Lears, St Michael, on Wednesday morning that left one man dead and three others injured.
According to initial reports, around 9:57 a.m. (local time), several workers were setting up a piece of equipment when it collapsed on four of them.
“Initial investigations have revealed that persons were in the area setting up a piece of equipment when it collapsed, injuring four persons. One male succumbed to his injuries at the scene, another was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and two others sought private medical assistance,” the police said in a statement.
The statement added that a medical doctor visited the scene, examined the body, and pronounced the death. “Investigations are continuing into this matter.” The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
