By Zoila Palma: On September 1, 2026, the Foreign Ministers of Belize and Guatemala, Francis Fonseca and Carlos Ramiro Martínez, OAS Secretary General Albert Ramdin, and the Ambassadors of the Group of Friends also visited the Ta’amay Training and Peace Promotion Centre in El Arenal, Guatemala.
The delegation toured the Centre and unveiled a mural created by young people as part of the OAS project, “Dialogue and Exchange among Youth of the Belize-Guatemala Adjacency Zone.”
The initiative highlights the important role of young people in fostering dialogue, understanding and peaceful coexistence among communities along the Belize-Guatemala Adjacency Zone.
The OAS also presented an overview of the verification system used to monitor and verify incidents along the western frontier, underscoring the Organization’s continued role in promoting confidence, communication and stability in the Adjacency Zone.
