By BBN Staff: A Belizean woman has been convicted of naturalization fraud in the United States after allegedly submitting a fake divorce decree and falsely claiming to be divorced before marrying a U.S. citizen.
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) confirmed the case in a social media post, stating that the woman committed fraud in the naturalization process. According to the post, she falsely claimed to be divorced and submitted a fraudulent divorce decree before marrying her U.S. citizen husband.
The post also emphasized that U.S. authorities are taking a firm stance against immigration and naturalization fraud, stating that President Donald J. Trump, Secretary Markwayne Mullin and the Department of Homeland Security “will not tolerate fraud in the naturalization process.”
USCIS also reminded the public that submitting fraudulent documents or providing false information during the immigration process can carry serious consequences, including possible criminal prosecution and deportation from the United States.
