(AURN News) — More than 40 organizations are teaming up to help Black voters cast their ballots and get help when something goes wrong. The National Coalition on Black Civic Participation says its election command centers in Atlanta and Washington will connect organizers across states including Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
Their assignment is to track Black voter turnout, document reports of intimidation and voting barriers and connect voters with assistance. Partners include Black Lives Matter, Common Cause and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
Coalition President Melanie Campbell and organizers will also brief reporters on conditions at polling places and their responses to reported problems.
The work won’t stop when the polls close. Organizers say they’ll continue monitoring ballot counting and certification into January.
If you encounter a voting problem, call or text 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683) for assistance.
