Bulridge Ltd. mourns death of employee Mauricio Solis following Mountain Pine Ridge accident

By Zoila Palma:  Bulridge Ltd. is mourning the death of Mauricio Solis, 49, of San Ignacio Town, Cayo District, who died following a traffic accident on September 3, 2026, in the Mountain Pine Ridge area approaching the Guacamallo Bridge.

Bulridge issued a statement today noting that Solis was on duty at the time of the accident and was travelling as a passenger in a work truck belonging to a private contractor hired to work in the area. The company said he had been assigned to accompany the contractor to the designated worksite.

“Our entire Bulridge family and team are heartbroken and devastated by this tragic loss,” the company said, describing Solis as “a valued member of the Bulridge family” whose passing has left “a deep void among his family, colleagues, and friends.”

Bulridge also condemned the circulation of videos showing the accident on social media, appealing to the public and media outlets to respect Solis’ family during their time of grief. “We strongly condemn the sensationalism surrounding his tragic death and the callous circulation of videos of the accident on social media,” the company stated.

The company further clarified that, contrary to information it said was reported no equipment belonging to Bulridge Ltd. was involved in the accident and no Bulridge employee was operating any equipment at the time.

The company added that the dump truck, trailer and backhoe involved belonged to Bahadur Trucking & Backhoe Service/Kurt Bahadur, a private contractor from Santa Elena Town, and that the dump truck was being driven by an employee of Bahadur.

Bulridge said the circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation and noted that, as of September 8, the Belize Police Department had not issued an official report. “Like the family, Bulridge Ltd. is awaiting official information regarding the circumstances surrounding this tragic event,” the company said.

The company also reaffirmed its commitment to workplace safety, particularly in the transportation and movement of heavy equipment. “Safety remains a priority for Bulridge Ltd., particularly in the transportation and movement of heavy equipment, and we continue to uphold strict safety practices throughout our operations,” it stated.

Bulridge extended condolences to Solis’ loved ones, saying, “At this time, our hearts remain with Mauricio’s family. We mourn this devastating loss alongside them and extend our deepest sympathies to everyone who knew and loved him.”

“May Mauricio rest in peace, and may his family find strength and comfort during this difficult time.”
