Aminata Zerbo/Sabane has held discussions with Natalia Krasovskaia to strengthen digital cooperation between Burkina Faso and the Russian Federation, with a focus on skills development and innovation in key technology sectors.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 22nd edition of the National Week of Culture in Bobo-Dioulasso and reflected growing engagement between both sides in areas such as digital transformation, education, and capacity building. Both parties emphasized the importance of deepening collaboration in high-impact fields, particularly digital skills training.
Discussions centered on practical initiatives aimed at developing national expertise in areas including cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. According to the Russian delegation, training opportunities are being considered to support Burkinabe youth in acquiring skills aligned with the country’s development priorities and the evolving digital economy.
The Russian representative also highlighted an ongoing educational programme already being implemented in a high school in Ouagadougou in partnership with a Russian university in Novosibirsk. The initiative is intended to help prepare a new generation of professionals capable of meeting demand in the digital labour market.
Additional proposals are being explored, including collaboration with a private polytechnic institute to further strengthen training pathways and expand access to digital education.
The Burkinabe Minister welcomed the initiatives, noting that they align with national priorities for human capital development and digital transformation. She emphasized the need to coordinate such programmes with technical government services to ensure alignment, efficiency, and long-term impact.
Overall, the engagement signals a shared commitment by Burkina Faso and Russia to advance practical cooperation in digital skills development and support the country’s broader digital transformation agenda.
