MOGO Uganda has announced a major milestone in its smartphone financing operations, revealing that the company has financed more than 500,000 smartphones across East Africa within just 14 months. According to the statement, approximately half of these devices were financed in Uganda, highlighting the country’s strong uptake of digital credit solutions and flexible payment plans.
The company attributes this growth to increasing demand for affordable access to smartphones, which are now seen as essential tools for communication, business, education, and financial inclusion. By offering structured repayment options, MOGO has positioned itself as a key player in expanding digital access across the region.
This achievement has been supported by partnerships with major industry players such as Transsion and Airtel Uganda, alongside a growing network of retail outlets. The model allows customers to select a device, complete a quick digital application process, and receive a smartphone within minutes, improving convenience and accessibility.
Looking ahead, MOGO has set an ambitious target of reaching one million customers across East Africa. The company says this next phase will further strengthen digital inclusion and empower more individuals to participate in the digital economy.
