C-Care Uganda has officially opened a specialist hospital in Gulu, a move expected to improve access to advanced healthcare services in Northern Uganda.
The newly launched C-Care Hospital Gulu will serve patients from the Acholi, Lango and West Nile sub-regions, where many residents have often travelled to Kampala to access specialised treatment and diagnostic services.
Speaking during the launch on Wednesday, Andrew Mugalu, General Manager of C-Care IMC, said the facility was established to reduce the burden faced by patients seeking specialised medical care outside the region.
“Our doctors can now practice evidence-based medicine with total confidence, supported by on-site imaging and diagnostics that significantly improve patient outcomes,” Mugalu said.
He added that the hospital would help address delays in treatment caused by referrals to Kampala.
The facility is equipped with CT imaging services, digital X-rays and emergency care units. It also has resident radiologists, technologists and emergency specialists to support patient care.
Helene Echevin, the Chief Executive Officer of C-Care International, said the investment reflects the company’s commitment to expanding quality healthcare services beyond Kampala.
“Our investment in Gulu reflects our belief that geography should never dictate the quality of healthcare a person receives,” Echevin said.
According to C-Care Uganda, the hospital will soon undergo further expansion to include 55 additional inpatient beds, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a mother-and-child centre, and an accident and emergency department.
