Carine Fraser is continuing a journey on the Camino Francés, which she began despite living with progressive vision loss and had to pause after a personal loss. Now, she’s inviting everyone to purchase a ribbon in honour of their own loved ones.
Camino Francés, Spain (02 June 2026) – In 2022, Carine Fraser began walking the Camino Francés, one of the world’s most iconic pilgrimage routes. However, after losing vision in her left eye and experiencing the heartbreaking loss of several loved ones, including both her parents, her journey had to be put on hold… until now.
Founder of Adventures for Love and a member of Retina South Africa, Carine has returned to continue the journey she started years ago, despite living with progressive vision loss.
From 12–28 June 2026, she will complete the final 258 km from Astorga to Santiago – not only as a personal milestone, but as a powerful message of hope, awareness for individuals and families affected by retinal conditions, as well as in remembrance of those who are no longer with us.
As she prepares to embark on her quest, Carine is redefining limitations in a way that inspires others facing similar challenges. What makes this story especially powerful is the way it brings others along with her.
How you can join Carine’s journey
She is inviting people to take part in her journey by purchasing ribbons in honour of their loved ones, each carrying a name, message, or tribute.
These ribbons will be attached to Carine’s remembrance flag and carried with her along the journey – transforming each step into a shared experience of connection, hope, and humanity.
Organisations can also get involved through Corporate Ribbon Bundles as a meaningful way to unite your team around a shared cause and show your support.
Best of all, every single cent raised goes directly to Retina South Africa, funding critical support for individuals and families affected by retinal conditions.
