INDIAN media are reporting that Delhi Police have arrested an alleged key figure in the August 7 shooting incident at comedian-actor Kapil Sharma’s restaurant, Kap’s Cafe, in Surrey.
B.C. RCMP Assistant Commissioner John Brewer told a press conference in Surrey on Friday morning at which federal Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree and B.C. Premier David Eby were present that they were aware of the arrest.
Indian media reported that police said that the accused, Bandhu Maan Singh Sekhon, who was allegedly a handler for the Goldy Dhillon gang in India and Canada was arrested in Punjab’s Ludhiana on November 25.
A high-end PX-3 semi-automatic pistol and eight live cartridges were recovered from his possession. Delhi’s Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said in a statement: “Sekhon had been providing logistical support, weapons and strategic assistance to shooters involved in the attacks on Kap’s Cafe.”
The restaurant has been targeted three times: on July 10, August 7 and October 16. Yadav said Sekhon fled from Canada on August 23, after Surrey Police arrested several of his associates.
