Entebbe UPPC shock Vipers in 2026-27 Uganda Premier League opener

UPL 2026/27 Matchday 1:

• Vipers 0-1 Entebbe UPPC

Entebbe UPPC Football Club sent shockwaves down the spines of many a Vipers’ faithful with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Vipers Sports Club at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Friday, 28th August 2026.

Defender Kevin Bady Dasylva struck the ball past his own goalkeeper, Mbaba, for the all-important goal on the evening in the 32nd minute.

This followed a teasing delivery from roving left back Thomas Ochungu down the flank.

Entebbe UPPC defended gallantly and were never afraid to ask the home side a few questions, with fresh signings Ibrahim Mugulusi, Reich Triomphe Kololo and Ibrahim Orit dictating the tempo.

Vipers hardly threatened in the duel, thanks to the diligence and disciplined display from the visitors’ defenders and goalkeeper Denis Otim.

Wide-man Odili Chukwuma, Gusto Mulongo, Farouk Miya and a second-half substitute had half chances created, but not buried.

Entebbe UPPC held onto the slim lead with cautious defending and occasional quick counter-attacks orchestrated by Mugulusi on the right flank.

The final whistle by referee Dick Okello was greeted by wild cheers from the Entebbe UPPC players, officials and the visiting delegation of fans; for they had recorded a milestone, arguably one of the biggest results since attaining promotion to the topflight division two years ago.

Matchday one continues on Saturday, 29th August 2026 and on the subsequent day.
