Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has warned clubs and players to follow transfer regulations as the mid-season transfer window for the 2026/27 football opens.
The transfer window opened yesterday and will run until September 21, giving clubs an opportunity to strengthen their squads ahead of the second round of the season.

In a statement announcing the opening of the window FAM said: “FAM is pleased to announce that the mid-season transfer window for the 2026/27 football season is officially open and will close on 21 September 2026.”
FAM club licensing and competitions manager Clement Kafwafwa in an interview yesterday called for sanity among clubs and players during the transfer period, stressing the need to adhere to established procedures.
He said: “Clubs and players are reminded to follow the correct procedures when conducting player transfers and registrations.”
Kafwafwa said all local and international transfers must be processed through the appropriate electronic systems to ensure transparency and compliance with football regulations.
He said: “All local transfers must be processed through Mpira Connect, while international transfers must be processed through Fifa transfer matching system [tms].”
Kafwafwa also warned clubs against tapping up players who are still under contract with other clubs, saying such players must first obtain the necessary clearance before making a move.
He further urged clubs to ensure that transfer documentation is complete and properly authenticated before submitting registrations.
“Submission of false or forged documents may lead to disciplinary action,” he warned
Kafwafwa also reminded clubs that they should not wait until the final days of the window to complete their transactions, as late submissions could result in players missing out on registration.
“All transfers and registrations must be completed before the registration window closes on September 21.”
