Higher Heights For America Endorses Keisha Lance Bottoms For Governor Of Georgia
BROOKLYN (October 21, 2025)— Higher Heights for America, the political home for Black women, proudly announces its endorsement of former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms in her campaign for Governor of Georgia in the 2026 election. Bottoms made history as the 60th Mayor of Atlanta and the second woman to hold the office. As Mayor, she secured major investments in affordable housing, supported small businesses, and maintained a balanced budget. She later served in the White House as Senior Advisor to the President for Public Engagement, where she led efforts to restore trust, expand opportunity, and unite Georgians across communities. Her vision focuses on increasing economic opportunity for all communities, protecting reproductive rights, strengthening education, and defending democracy at a time when Georgia stands at the center of America’s political future. “Keisha Lance Bottoms is a proven leader whose record demonstrates courage, compassion, and a deep commitment to the people of Georgia,” said Glynda C. Carr, President and CEO of Higher Heights for America. “At a moment when our democracy and freedoms are under attack, Keisha brings the experience, the vision, and the moral clarity needed to lead the state forward. Higher Heights is proud to stand with her as she makes history yet again.” “I’m honored to receive this important endorsement from Higher Heights for America, a group that has helped elect so many leaders around the country,” Bottoms said. “This endorsement builds on the growing momentum on the ground in Georgia for our campaign. Georgians are looking for a governor who’ll stand up for them to protect health care, lower costs and defend democracy – and I am proud of the growing coalition of supporters for this campaign.” Poised to make history — this country has never had a Black woman governor in 249 years. Her election would be a groundbreaking achievement that underscores both the urgency and the promise of this campaign. Bottoms’ candidacy comes as Georgia continues to play a pivotal role in shaping national politics. From her leadership in navigating Atlanta through the COVID-19 pandemic to her advocacy on voting rights and opportunities for all, Bottoms has consistently centered working families and the most vulnerable communities. “Georgia deserves a governor who will fight for all its people, not just the powerful few,” Carr added. “Black women have always been at the heart of progress in this country, and with Keisha Lance Bottoms on the ballot, Georgia voters have an opportunity to make history and build a stronger, more inclusive future.” Higher Heights encourages its members and supporters to get involved in this critical election by volunteering, donating, and mobilizing their communities to ensure victory on Primary Day, May 19, 2026.
