She has grabbed at our hearts from the very beginning — and now, a Hollywood Star.
On Monday, March 30. multi-platinum, GRAMMY Award-winning recording artist, actor, and cultural icon Brandy Norwood accepted the 2,839th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Recording category, cementing a trailblazing three-decade career that changed the landscape of R&B, television, and pop culture.
The star dedication ceremony kicked off on Hollywood Boulevard in front of Eastown, streaming live at walkoffame.com, with Emmy Award-winning sports and entertainment presenter Sibley Scoles.
Issa Rae took the mic at Brandy’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony and delivered exactly the tribute the moment called for. Her remarks were honest, personal, and full of love.
Actress and producer Issa Rae and legendary singer and music producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds took the stage to deliver guest speaker remarks.
Other guests in attendance included Brandy’s parents, Sonja and Willie Norwood, her daughter Sy’rai, Moesha co-stars Shar Jackson (Niecy) and Marcus T. Paulk (Myles), and friends Monica, Kehlani, Jenifer Lewis, and more.
Fresh off their sold-out “The Boy Is Mine Tour,” spanning more than 24 cities, Brandy and Monica have already signed on to headline this year’s Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival over Mother’s Day weekend.
Brandy has been building her legacy since the early 90’s, when she introduced a vocal style embedded in years of a cappella harmony she developed singing in the church as a child. Fans and fellow artists alike crowned her the vocal bible, and the numbers back it up. Her Diamond-certified sophomore album Never Say Never moved over 16 million albums worldwide, and she has sold more than 40 million records globally.
Beyond the music, Whitney Houston personally selected her to make history as the first African American actress to portray Cinderella in Disney’s television adaptation, a production that drew over 60 million viewers. She led Moesha for five seasons, reshaping representation for a generation of Black viewers, and in 2015 she took Broadway by storm as Roxie Hart in Chicago. Early this year (Jan. 29) the Recording Academy and the Black Music Collective honored her with the Black Music Icon Award.
She has poured back into the community through her Norwood Kids Foundation and her work as a former UNICEF youth spokesperson, never losing sight of the people who helped carry her here. A legacy most only dream of, and she is still one of one and fully in her bag.

Brandy releases her debut memoir PHASES on Mar 31, available everywhere books are sold. PHASES tells the fearless and inspiring story of a young Brandy who found fame before she found herself, navigating the weight of stardom, the pressure of perfection, and the quiet struggle behind the image the world fell in love with, ultimately finding the strength to make peace with her past and step fully into who she was always meant to be.
On Mar 29, she brought the PHASES Book Tour to The Montalbán Theatre in Hollywood, where Erica Campbell moderated “A Conversation with Brandy,” a night that moved everyone in the room as fans witnessed Brandy reflect openly on her journey, her growth, and the chapters that shaped her. Brandy captured the feeling of the evening best herself:
“My heart is full. Thank you to everyone who came out to the Los Angeles PHASES Book Tour and shared such a meaningful night with me. Your love, your presence, and your openness touched me deeply. Thank you for listening… for receiving… and for walking this journey with me. With so much gratitude to Erica Campbell for holding the space with such grace and warmth. LA, you’ll stay with me.”
Her debut memoir, PHASES, hits shelves and digital platforms everywhere on March 31, 2026.
Congratulations, Brandy. You planted seeds in music, television, film, theater, and the hearts of millions — and Hollywood just acknowledged what we already knew. That star on Hollywood Boulevard reflects exactly who you are and what you’ve built.
