The two-day competition included 16 players, twice as many as in 2025, from nine different schools. The players contested six rounds of classical games under the Swiss system, with standard time control of 60 minutes and a 30-second increment per move.

On Sunday, January 18, the Senior National Championships get underway at Cocoville. The competition will run for four consecutive weekends and will be played under a round-robin system.
