By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belize Electricity Limited has announced a series of planned power outages affecting several districts this week and into the weekend.
On Thursday, August 27, power will be off from 8am to 4:30pm across all areas from Mile 23 to Mile 38 on the Hummingbird Highway, including Middlesex, Kingsville, Hummingbird Community, Santa Marta, St. Margaret’s Village and surrounding areas. BEL will install a utility pole, relocate high voltage powerlines and remove hazardous vegetation.
The largest outage comes Sunday, August 30, from 7am to 3pm, covering the entire Placencia Peninsula including Placencia Village, Seine Bight, Plantation, Forest Lagoon, Maya Beach, Cocoplum and Surfside developments. Also affected are Independence, Maya King, Santa Cruz, Georgetown, San Pablo, San Roman, Santa Rosa, Maya Mopan, Red Bank, Cow Pen, Monkey River, Bella Vista, San Isidro, Swasey, Bladen, Trio and surrounding areas.
A shorter outage hits the entire Toledo District that same day from 2:45pm to 3pm, except Monkey River, Bella Vista, San Isidro, Bladen and Trio Village.
BEL will replace utility poles and conduct maintenance at the Independence and Punta Gorda substations.
