MEDINA UTD SEEKS TO ELIMINATE VISITORS IN CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SATURDAY

Gambian champions Medina United returns to action in the Caf champion’s league preliminaries on Saturday at the newly refurbished Independence stadium. They are up against Star FC of Sierra Leone in the second leg of their tie which started in Bo –Town, last weekend with the two teams settling for a goalless draw. That has embolden the boys from Lamin Town who  are on top  the moon about what they have achieved in faraway Sierra Leone with most  of the players never having ventured out of The Gambia.

On Saturday, the Gambian champions will carry the nation’s hope in this prestigious club competition and are bent on eliminating the visitors for place in the round.

Medina would be lucky and hoping to rely on the support of a mountain of fans as football crazed Gambians longing for an international match troop to see the new look national stadium and cheer the nation’s champions.

With home advantage and a determined crop of young players, Medina can dream of making it to the next round of Caf champion’s league. The match kicks off at 4 PM on Saturday.

The organisers said the new format of the stadium has reduced capacity and tickets are being sold strictly on first come first served basis, in advance of the match as no ticket selling will be done at the stadium.
