First Lady Melania Trump and Her Majesty Queen Camilla joined American students at the White House for a technology‑focused cultural exchange that blended history, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence in the midst of a first-time state visit from the Queen and her husband King Charles III.
The program, held at the White House Tennis Pavilion, is part of the First Lady’s Fostering the Future Together initiative, which promotes global learning through advanced technology. Students used VR headsets to explore major historical sites across the United Kingdom, including Snowdonia, Giant’s Causeway, Stonehenge, and the exterior of Buckingham Palace. Several participants were state champions in the Presidential AI Challenge.
“Students all over the world can visit historically important sites, learn about the past, and be inspired,” the First Lady said, noting that VR and AI allow children to experience history without traveling. She emphasized that immersive tools can make learning “richer and more memorable than ever before.”
Students from the region received Michael Morpurgo’s “War Horse” form Queen Camilla and a challenge coin from Mrs. Trump.

The session also included an interactive presentation of American historical artifacts curated by Mrs. Trump. Using AI‑enabled glasses, students and Queen Camilla viewed items from the White House Collection and the National Archives, including a portrait of President John Adams, a World War II situation map prepared for President Franklin D. Roosevelt, a bronze bust of Winston Churchill, and early Staffordshire ceramics. Gifts exchanged during past state visits were also featured to highlight longstanding U.S.–U.K. ties.
Throughout the event, the First Lady, 56 and Queen Camilla, 78 spoke with students about their virtual experiences and the role technology can play in understanding history and culture.
The program reflects Mrs. Trump’s continued commitment to expanding educational opportunities through Fostering the Future Together, part of her broader BE BEST initiative focused on empowering children through technology and learning. Introducing AI components to the Queen helps globalize her mission to expand AI use responsibly.
