By Zoila Palma: The Ministry of Sustainable Development and Climate Change held a press conference on August 17, 2026, to highlight key environmental issues and ongoing initiatives aimed at protecting Belize’s natural resources.
Representatives from the Belize Forest Department, Climate Change Department, and Department of the Environment (DOE) provided updates on their respective areas of work.
The DOE also addressed the ongoing fish kill issue, emphasizing the need for continued monitoring and public awareness as authorities work to better understand and respond to environmental concerns.
The Department further reinforced the importance of Belize’s National Anti-Littering Campaign, reminding the public that keeping the country clean and protecting its natural environment is a shared responsibility. Officials encouraged greater public participation and collective action to address environmental challenges.
The Ministry stressed that environmental protection is everyone’s business and called on citizens to play their part in protecting Belize for future generations.
