Members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) have raised 60 million naira for the purchase of a presidential nomination form for Peter Obi, as opposition stakeholders gathered in Abuja for a seminar aimed at strategising ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The seminar brought together members of the NDC, supporters of the Obidient Movement, and the Kwankwasiyya Movement to discuss possible political strategies and coalition building ahead of the polls. Stakeholders at the event reaffirmed their commitment to building a stronger opposition alliance capable of challenging the ruling party in 2027.
Speaking during the gathering, NNPP chieftain Buba Galadima urged members of the NDC and other opposition groups to unite and make sacrifices if they hope to unseat the ruling party in the next general election. He stressed the need for the opposition to focus on building a common front instead of pursuing personal ambitions.
Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu called on political parties to present credible and competent candidates, warning against allowing money politics to dominate the electoral process.
Guest lecturer Sam Amadi emphasised the importance of issue-based politics, coalition building, and active citizen participation as the country prepares for another election cycle.
The seminar ended with renewed calls for unity among opposition groups, as participants maintained that only a coordinated political front built on competence, credibility, and shared strategy can effectively challenge the ruling party in the 2027 general elections.
