At a pivotal moment for Atlanta’s film industry, On Set ATL will host its annual Slate Awards on April 12, 2026, at the historic Fox Theatre—bringing together filmmakers, creatives, and cultural leaders for an unforgettable night of celebration, visibility, and opportunity.

As Atlanta continues to solidify its position as a global production hub, the Slate Awards arrive with a clear mission: to create intentional space for independent filmmakers to be seen, supported, and celebrated. The event signals a new level of growth for On Set ATL, expanding its role as a cultural and creative partner for filmmakers across the city.

Theme: Claim the Frame

This year’s Slate Awards are centered around the theme “Claim the Frame,” a call to action for filmmakers to take ownership of their narratives, their visibility, and their place within the industry. In a landscape where access and representation remain critical conversations, “Claim the Frame” reflects On Set ATL’s commitment to empowering independent creatives—especially those from underrepresented communities—to step forward with confidence, tell their stories unapologetically, and be seen on their own terms.

More than a theme, it is a declaration: that Atlanta’s filmmakers are not waiting for permission—they are claiming their space, their voice, and their future in film.

“This is more than an awards show—it’s a statement about what’s possible when we invest in our creative community,” said Martina Lindo, co-founder of On Set ATL. “We are building a platform that not only celebrates filmmakers, but actively creates pathways for their work to be recognized, funded, and sustained.”

“For us, this work is also about the next generation,” added Jhaneal Hector, co-founder of On Set ATL. “Through our partnership with the National Black Arts Festival and their NextGen Artist Program, we are intentionally creating space for young creatives to see what’s possible—and to step into this industry with real support, real access, and real opportunity. The Slate Awards are not just about celebrating where we are, but investing in where we’re going.”

An Elevated Experience at One of Atlanta’s Most Iconic Venues

Set inside the historic Fox Theatre, the evening will transform into a fully immersive experience designed to reflect the richness of Atlanta’s creative culture.

The night will include:

  • A red carpet arrival experience spotlighting filmmakers and honorees

  • A buffet-style dinner for guests

  • A dynamic awards ceremony honoring filmmakers across 17 categories

  • Live performances from Jai’Len Josey and Anna Field

  • Special guest appearances and curated moments throughout the evening

  • A high-energy, community-centered atmosphere designed for connection and celebration

From powerful storytelling to live performance, the Slate Awards are crafted to be a cinematic experience in itself—one that reflects the vibrancy, talent, and future of Atlanta film.

Powered by Strategic Partnerships Investing in Atlanta’s Creative Future

The 2026 Slate Awards are made possible through a growing network of partners who are investing in Atlanta’s creative ecosystem:

  • National Black Arts Festival

  • Key TV

  • Bevel

  • Barry’s

  • The City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs (in-kind marketing support)

These partnerships reflect a shared commitment to expanding access, amplifying diverse voices, and building sustainable opportunities for creatives.

A Defining Moment for Atlanta’s Independent Film Community

Over the past three years, On Set ATL has grown into a vital platform for filmmakers—hosting over 25 screenings and cultivating a combined in-person and online community of more than 10,000 creatives. The 2026 Slate Awards mark a significant evolution in scale and impact.

By bringing the event to the Fox Theatre and expanding its network of partners, On Set ATL is positioning itself as a long-term partner for independent filmmakers—bridging the gap between creative talent and real opportunity.

As the industry continues to grow in Atlanta, the Slate Awards serve as both a celebration and a call to action: to invest in the storytellers shaping the future of film.
