Polokwane – One man was killed and two others injured after about 10 armed suspects stormed a restaurant in Mahlarolle, Moletlane, in Limpopo, during a robbery on Saturday night.
The incident happened at about 20:00 on 12 September 2026, when approximately 20 people were inside the restaurant.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the suspects were wearing balaclavas when they entered the premises and demanded money and cellphones.
“The victims were ordered to lie down while the suspects searched them and allegedly took approximately 13 cellphones, an undisclosed amount of cash and about three vehicle keys,” police said.
The suspects allegedly fired several shots inside the restaurant, injuring three men.
A 31-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was declared dead on arrival at hospital.
A second victim sustained gunshot wounds to the shoulder and thigh and was admitted to hospital for further treatment, while a third man suffered a forehead injury and was treated and discharged.
The suspects allegedly escaped in a white Isuzu bakkie belonging to one of the victims.
Police said the vehicle was later abandoned on a road near a lodge, not far from the crime scene, and was recovered.
An intensive manhunt has been launched for the suspects, who remain at large.
“Detectives are following up on all leads to identify and apprehend those responsible for the incident,” SAPS said.
Police are investigating cases of murder, attempted murder and business robbery.
