By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Minister of Home Affairs and Belmopan Area Representative Oscar Mira has launched a blistering attack against former UDP heavyweight John Saldivar, accusing him of leading a campaign of misinformation against him.
In a strongly worded statement released on social media, Mira defended his record as Belmopan’s elected representative and said the people of the capital city have repeatedly supported him because of results, not rhetoric.
“The people of Belmopan, who have supported me resoundingly in consecutive elections, have done so based on results, not talk,” Mira stated.
According to Mira, Belmopan residents have witnessed significant improvements under his leadership, including infrastructure upgrades, increased access to healthcare and education, as well as housing and land opportunities.
But it was his comments about Saldivar that drew the most attention.
“The man leading the attack against me is no other than failed politician John Saldivar,” Mira wrote.
He went on to claim that Saldivar had been rejected by voters in Belmopan and even forced out of his own UDP party.
Mira further alleged that Saldivar’s political record is widely known and accused him of attempting to pull others into what he described as the political trenches.
Despite the criticism, Mira said he remains focused on serving the people of Belmopan and carrying out his responsibilities as Minister of Home Affairs and Enterprise.
“My priority remains the security and well-being of our people, and the development of Belmopan,” Mira declared.
