Richard Basangwa was on target as NEC bagged maximum points at home.
NEC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Maroons in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Philip Omondi Stadium on Saturday.
The hosts started on the from foot from word go seeking an early opener but Maroons’ backline responded emphatically.
Basangwa broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute. He was in the right place to tap home a loose ball as the Maroons’ backline was slow to respond.
In the second half, Maroons tried to push the hosts on the back foot but they were not lethal enough whenever they went into the final third.
The victory extends NEC’s brilliant run to three straight victories since they managed to beat Police and URA.
After the victory, NEC lie fifth with 40 points while Maroons lie ninth with 29 points after 23 games.
