Rines Secondary School has defied all odds to win the FEASSA Games girls’ football title at Jamhuri Stadium in Morogoro City, Tanzania.
The current Wakiso District and national champions of Uganda overcame Amus College School 4-3 in post-match penalties after normal time had ended goalless.
Halima Mupyango, skipper Justine Ayerango, Edith Nakiseka and Shamirah Namukabirye all converted their respective kicks with success.
Only defender Patricia Nakato Nanyanzi was denied by goalkeeper Angella Adeke during the first kick of the shoot-out.

For Amus College School, Elizabeth Alupo, Emilly Nabuzale and Jazira Amiya were on target.
Abigali Nekesa shot wide of goal, and Charity Katusiime’s shot was saved by goalkeeper Bridget Yuko Nansamba.
This is the first gold medal for Rines S.S at the East African level, adding to Uganda’s tally of gold at the championship.

“I am excited for this victory,” an overjoyed Rines S.S captain Ayerango stated. “The mission has been fulfilled. I thank my fellow teammates, the coaches, school management and our fans,” she added.
