KCCA failed to take advantage of Vipers’ dropping points against Kitara when they lost 1-0 to SC Villa at Fufa stadium, Kadiba in a highly attended league match.
Hassan Mubiru wonder strike was decisive as the Jogoos moved within seven points of leaders and just one point behind KCCA.
Here is how both sets of players performed at Kadiba
SC VILLA
David Lukwago 8.0: A huge presence in goal as he easily collected crosses and also played out nicely with his feet. Made a brilliant save to deny Nana in the first half.
David Owori 6.5: Resolutely defended against KCCA wingers and got chance to go forward on a number of occasions but decision making on whether to shoot on goal or pass to his teammates let him down.
Simon Ssemayange 6.5: Brilliant going forward adding numbers to attack but often caught out of position especially in the second half but covered by Lubangakene.
Barasa Mangoli 7.0: Until he was forced off through injury, Mangoli made defending look easy as he kept Ahimbisibwe and co. in check with easy. Initiated attacks from deep with his intelligent play.
Geoffrey Lubangakene 7.0: A colossus at the heart of defence. Mixed physicality with finesse and covered well down the left back when Ssemayange went into attack.
Misi Diego Ssemugera 7.5: The anchorman gave the backline cover with his interceptions keeping on form Said Mayanja in check for the entire game.
Aslam Ssemakula 7.5: A dominant force in the middle as he weaved through opponents with his magical left foot keeping the crowd entertained.
Najib Yiga 6.0: A willing worker all through but not as effective with creativity. Also missed a good chance early in the second half when he missed Kakande’s ball down the left.
Frank Ssebuufu 6.5: Assisted Hassan Mubiru’s winner but guilty for missing two good chances. His work rate on the day was brilliant as he often pressed high the pitch.
Patrick Kakande 8.0: A joy to watch all through until he was subbed off late in the second half. Gave Gavin Kizito and Filbert Obenchan a torrid evening.
Hassan Mubiru 9.0: A man of the match performance from the no.26 and scored a worldie for the winner. Besides the goal, he was a menace to the fullbacks all night.
Substitutes
Geoffrey Gganganga 7.0: Brought calmness and intelligence to the midfield when he replaced Yiga.
Farouk Matovu 6.0: Replaced Barasa at the heart of defence and did a good job.
Arnold Odongo 5.0: Came on the for last five minutes to galvanise the Villa defence.
Reagan Mpande 6.0: Held on to possession well when he came on for Kakande eating off a few minutes on the clock as Villa held on.
KCCA
Mutwalibu Mugolofa 5.0: Got away with a poor pass in the first minute when his ball fell to Frank Ssebuufu with Walusimbi clearing off the line. Could do nothing with Mubiru’s curler.
Gavin Kizito 5.0: An early booking destabilized his game and faced a tough time against Kakande especially in the second half.
Herbert Achai 5.5: Got caught out a few times, including for the opening goal, but did try to get forward when he could. Forced a good save from Lukwago in the first half.
Filbert Obenchan 6.0: Good battle with Ssebuufu. Probably KCCA’s defender. Got booked for a professional foul late in the game.
Enock Walusimbi 5.0: Cleared off the line in the first minute after an error by Mugolofa. Often caught in possession by Villa’s high press and unfortunately went off injured at halftime.
Joel Sserunjogi 5.0: Had a decent first half but went into oblivion after the break. He was replaced by Mugume for the last six minutes.
Brain Jjara 6.0: KCCA’s best player on the day but let Mubiru shoot at goal without blocking him.
Said Mayanja 6.0: Another decent performer for the Kasasiro but also failed to block Mubiru when he received the ball from Ssebuufu. Replaced by Yiga late on.
Shafik Nana Kwikiriza 6.0: KCCA’s most lively player in the first half and saw his shot tipped over by Lukwago.
Sammy Ssebaduka 5.0: A workaholic down the wings and created one good chance after winning the foot race against Lubangakene.
Ivan Ahimbisibwe 5.0: Starved of service but should have done better when Lukwago parried Achai’s ball into his path.
Substitutes
Hassan Mahmood 5.0: Replaced Walusimbi at halftime and battled well with Ssebuufu and company.
Patrick Muserero 3.0: How he came on first at a time when KCCA was searching for an equaliser still baffled many. Struggled to impact the game after he came on for Nana.
Ettiene Katenga 4.0: Replaced Ahimbisibwe but kept in check by Owori.
Ashraf Mugume 5.0: Was on the pitch for a few minutes but looked more impactful than all the substitutes.
Alex Yiga 3.0: Failed to impact the game when he came for Said Mayanja. Rarely had a touch on the ball.
