Surf’s up for Team Saint Lucia in El Salvador

The cerulean blue continues to fly at international surfing competitions, with a three-member Saint Lucia team competing this week at the ISA World Junior Championships in Surf City, El Salvador.

Team captain Sebastian Ambler is set to compete in the Boys Under-18 division. His brother, Daniel Ambler, will take part in both the Boys Under-16 and Under-18 events. William Verity will also compete in the Boys Under-18 division. All three surfers come from Marigot Bay.

South Castries has become the centre of Saint Lucian surfing. The national federation has also organised training in places like Laborie, Anse La Raye and Canaries, donating gear and equipment to help more young people get involved.

Sebastian, Daniel, and William have already competed internationally, so they bring experience and confidence to this year’s event. They know the competition will be tough and are excited to challenge themselves against some of the world’s best junior surfers.

The national federation says the team has worked hard over the past year to prepare for the championships. They recently trained in California, and their preparation also took them to Barbados, Martinique, and Costa Rica. There, they practised on different waves and in different conditions to build their competitive skills.

The opening ceremony will be held in La Bocana, and the competition continues until September 13.
