Taste of Thailand Promotion 2022 begins in Nairobi

On March 11 , The Office of Commercial Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy, Nairobi, in collaboration with importers of Thailand products, has organised a major in-store promotion which aims at increasing knowledge about Thai food products in the Kenyan market, and promoting Thai kitchenware brands and appliances. dubbed Taste of Thailand Promotion 2022. The event which will end on April 3, 2022 had its opening ceremony was on March 12, 2022,
At The Village Market,  the Ambassador of Thailand to Kenya, Ms Sasirit Tangulrat, explained that Thai cuisine is one of the most famous and dynamic in the world due to its blend of flavours.  She further stated that a typical Thai meal includes five main flavours – salty, sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy – thus ensuring a balance of all flavours and that Traditional Thai cuisine loosely falls into four categories: tom (boiled dishes), yum (spicy salads), tam (pounded foods), and going (curries).
Also,  Mr Natthapong Senanarong, the Minister Counsellor, Office of Commercial Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy, Nairobi noted that Thailand, under the leadership of its Minister of Commerce, Mr Jurin Laksanawisit, has in a joint collaboration of the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and Ministry of Interior.  launched measures to build confidence among consumers with the ‘new normal’ manufacturing process through compliance with the Covid-19 Prevention Best Practice in food production for export.
The measure is aimed at enabling manufacturers, exporters, business operators, raw material suppliers such as fish markets, piers, wholesale markets, animal farms, fishing boats, as well as logistics and modern trade operators, to comply with the same guidelines below
Reduce the risk of contamination from raw materials, ingredients and containers.
Strict production control
Control of personal hygiene, work environment as well as location and manufacturing building.
The promotion is taking place in three shopping malls in Nairobi: The Village Market (March 11-13), The Hub Karen (March 18-20), Sarit Centre (March 25-27) and Sarit Centre (April 1-3) 2022.
Shoppers can learn about various Thai recipes during the cooking demos in these malls, and also take advantage of the discounted offers on Thai brands in the market.
Buyers should always look out for quality and safety of products from Thailand bearing the three logos below as stipulated by the Government of Thailand. The first one is the Thailand Trust Mark, while the second one (Thai Select) authenticates food products from Thailand as well as restaurants.
