Temporary suspension of certain shipments to the European Union

The Belize Postal Service wishes to inform all customers that, effective immediately, the acceptance and processing of postal shipments containing goods destined for countries within the European Union (EU) have been temporarily suspended.

This temporary measure follows recent changes to the European Union’s import regulations, including the abolition of the duty-free de minimis threshold for imported goods. These regulatory changes have introduced new customs clearance and taxation requirements that affect the processing of international postal items entering EU member states.

At this time, the Belize Postal Service is awaiting official operational guidance and implementation procedures from the Universal Postal Union (UPU) to ensure that all outbound shipments comply with the new European Union customs requirements and that customers experience minimal disruption.

Customers intending to send merchandise to any European Union destination are advised to postpone their shipments until further notice. Mail items that have already been accepted prior to this announcement will continue to be processed in accordance with existing procedures where applicable.

The Belize Postal Service is working closely with its international postal partners and the Universal Postal Union to restore services as soon as the necessary guidance and operational processes have been established.

We are making every effort to enable the resumption of all shipments as soon as possible in compliance with the new regulations.  We sincerely regret any inconvenience this temporary suspension may cause and thank you for your understanding as we work to adapt to these new European Union regulations.
