Three murder suspects made their first appearance in the Outjo Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday over the murder of Florencia Jacobs.
The suspects are Germanus Oreseb (24), Petrus Tsauseb (25) and Theodor Tjikongo (34).
Jacobs’ body was discovered behind the Sophia Shaningwa Fire Station at Outjo on 31 January. She was 21.
One of the suspects allegedly handed himself over to the police on Monday, which eventually led to the arrest of two other suspects.
Kunene police regional commander commissioner Eric Clay says the three remain in custody.
The matter has been postponed to 18 June for further investigation.
The Outjo community, in solidarity with Jacobs’ family, on Wednesday protested against the suspects receiving bail.
Community member Densty Narib says: “Jacobs was someone’s daughter, friend. She was someone with dreams, a future and a life that deserved protection.”
“Her body was found discarded, as if her life had no value. But we are here today to declare that her life had value. Her life mattered and her death demands justice,” he says.
