By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): An officer on duty at a public event in Orange Walk Town found himself dealing with the same man twice in half an hour on Saturday night.
Police say the first encounter came around 11:30pm at the Fiesta FM 22nd Anniversary event at Queen Victoria Avenue and South Park Street. A man approached a sergeant, addressed him aggressively, and told him he had just come out of jail.
He was cautioned and asked to leave. He did, without incident.
At 12:05am, officers searched him at Central Park and found a small pocket knife, roughly two inches.
That is when it turned physical. Police say he walked about ten steps off, squared his chest at one officer, then came back toward the sergeant and pushed him with his elbow.
Then came the threat. Somebody, he said, would be killed that day.
Manuel Guardado, 26, a labourer of San Jose Village, was arrested for using indecent words and aggravated assault. He is pending charges.
Two chances to walk away, and he used neither.
